Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is located 45 km from Guwahati city and takes around an hours time to reach. It is famous for having the highest concentration of one horned Rhinos in India. It is better to have own transport as pubic transport is infrequent. The total area of the park is 38.8 sq km but Rhinos mainly live in an area of 16 sq km.
Timings: 6.30 AM to 5 PM
Open on all days.
Besides one horned Rhinos, there are other animals like wild buffaloes, barking deer etc. We saw a host of migratory birds like Siberian crane, painted storks, egrets etc.
