Visit to Jorasanko Thakur Bari (Rabindranath Tagore’s house) in Kolkata

Jorasanko Thakur Bari is the ancestral house of the first Indian and non European Nobel laureate kaviguru Rabindranath Thakur (Tagore). Built in 1784 by his grandfather Dwarkanath Tagore. It is here Rabindranath Tagore was born in 1861 and died on 7th August 1941. The house is now located inside Rabindra Bharati University campus. The university was setup in 1962. It also houses a museum on the life of Rabindranath Tagore and cultural aspects of Bengal.

During my recent visit to Kolkata, me and my mom decided to visit there. It is located off Rabindra Sarani in Jorasanko. The nearest metro station will be probably Girish park. Once off Rabindra Sarani, the bustling lane leads to a red building. The gate has written in Bengali Rabindra Bharati University.
