Jayaprakash Narayan Park, popularly known as JP park is located in Mathikere near Yeshwantpur, Bangalore. This park has been developed by BBMP and is spread over 85 acres of land. The foundation store for this park was laid by the late Ex CM of Karnataka Ramakrishna Hegde and it was complete during Kumaraswamy’s tenure. The JP park is indeed good and jogger or nature lover’s delight. It is very nicely landscaped, well laid foot path, well lit for evening visitors, sitting places at short distances etc. It is a green delight. The park displays village life by display of statues of rural people, monkeys, tigers etc moulded in cement. Some part of the park are given different names like Honge garden after the name of the tree which is in concentration there. There is abundance of flora and quite a bit of fauna. I spotted a few bird over there. One Theatre is under construction, however the gallery is already in place and is named after Kannada matine idol Rajkumar. One can get a bird’s eye view from the higher point of the gallery.

You will able to see various trees and ornamental plants. At one side it also has a lake, dotted by hut like places where one can sit with family or friends. However, during public holidays and peak hours it may not be a good place to store some kisses. lol! It some crafy architecture at the backside of the park, where if you would like you may sit. Behind the park, runs trains lines towards yeshwantpur railway station.

One of the thing which I noticed is that the park is very clean and well maintained. Many of the tree are still in their adolocense and once they are fully grown some part of the park may resemble a mini jungle. One should keep good amount of time in hand to explore the park completely. Bangalore need more of such green lung space.

Note: Eatables are not allowed inside. You if carry any, you may leave it with the security at the gate and you can take it back while leaving.
