Hoysaleshwara Temple, Halebidu, Karnataka

Hoysaleshwara temple in Halebidu in the Hassan district of Indian state of Karnataka was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhan of Hoysala empire. The construction was started in 1121 and completed in 1160. Hoysaleshwara temple is one of the most beautiful ancient temples of Karnataka. It is one of the most popular Hoysala temples and is lauded in terms of architecture. Take your time when you visit here, so you can enjoy viewing the ornate stone pillars, intricate stone carved temple in peace. This star shaped temple sitting on a high pedestal is one of the unique features of Hoysala temples. In the hoysala temple circuit, it is a must visit and features prominently on the Hassan district tourism map.

It is located around 30 km from Hassan city and about 200 Km from Bangalore. You visit by bus, KSTDC tour packages from Bangalore or Mysore or you can go by private vehicle.
