Bannerghatta National Park Safari Tour, Bangalore
Safari is the premier attraction at the Bannerghatta National Park. It is located near Bangalore at an average distance of about 22 KM south of Bangalore. It was founded in 1970 and was declared a national park in 1974. In 2002, a small portion of the park became a zoological garden, the Bannerghatta Biological Park. The park offers a wide range of wildlife to explorers and gives a chance to city dwellers of Bangalore to get acquainted with wild life. 6 km safari roads has been specially made for safarists who can see tigers, lions, bears, wild pigs, deer, samba and elephant up close in the nature. The park is spread over an area of around 260.51 sq. Km. There are a few villages and ancient temples inside the park area. The park is part of a wildlife corridor for elephants which connects the BR Hills and the Sathyamangalam forest. The park is contiguous with Talli reserve forest in the southeast and Bilikal forest in the south. One hundred and one species of birds have been recorded in the park. The park’s rainfall is 700 mm per year. The Suvarnamukhi stream runs through the national park. Few years ago four bore wells were opened to provide water in dry times.
The Bannerghatta Biological Park is open everyday except Tuesday.

Zoo: 9.30 AM to 5 PM
Safari: 10 AM to 4.30 PM
Butterfly Park: 9.30 AM to 5 PM
Boating: 9.30 AM to 5 PM
For adults entry fees to the zoo is Rs 100, entry fees to butterfly park is Rs 50.

It can be a good day outing for the people of Bangalore. BMTC buses are available from Majestic bus stand or other parts of Bangalore to Bannerghatta National Park.
