Bangalore the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka is touted as the IT, BT, Knowledge hub or silicon valley of India. It is also know as the Garden City of India. One can find numerous gardens through out the city. Bangalore was sleepy city known as pensioner’s paradise in the 80s and 90s. However, from the late 90s things started changing with the advent of IT. Now one can see modern glass buildings, shopping malls, branded showrooms etc. In terms of tourism Bangalore has a lot to offer. Though Bangalore may not have huge number of historical sites but it has the weather, ambience and cosmopolitan nature to make you feel comfortable. There are quite a few to see in Bangalore which I will list below:

1. Vidhana Soudha: Vidhana Soudha is the state assembly of the government in Karnataka. It was built by Kengal Hanumanthaiah in the 1950s the then CM of the state of Mysore. It is the largest legislative assembly in India. Recently, a replica called Vikasa Soudha has been built during the tennure of CM S.M Krishna.

3. ISKON Temple: ISKON temple is Bangalore is a very beauftiful temple located on a hill on west of cord road near Rajajinagar. The temple is decicated to sri Radha Krishna however other avatars are also available. From the top one can have a nice view. Security hassles can make you little uncomfortable but under present circumstances they have to do that. Inside one can buy starting from food, religious books, handicrafts etc

4. Lalbagh: Lalbagh is popular botanical garden in Bangalore constructed during the rule of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore. The park includes 240 acres of land. It has varierty of plants and an ideal place to refresh yourself in a busy city like Bangalore. Every year during Republic Day(26th january) a special flower show takes place. Entry fee – Rs 10.

5. Bannerghatta National Park and Butterfly park: Bannerghatta National Park is located around 25 km from Bangalore city center and takes around half an hour by bus. Now a days your journey can be more comfortable as Volvo buses ply on that route and charge Rs 50 per person from Majestic bus stand. The park encompasses 25,000 acres of land and have various flora and founa. The park basically has a zoo, butterfly park and a tiger & lion safari.

7. Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat: The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath was established in 1960. It is a center of art which also imparts education in the field of art. One should visit the gallery over there.

8. Rajarajeshwari Temple: The Rajarajeshwari temple is located in Rajarajeshwari nagar off Mysore road. The temple is built in intricate Dravida style.

10. HAL Museum: The HAL museum is one of the best aerospace museum on display in India. Maintained by HAL it has a large collection of vintage fighter jets, modern aircrafts like MIG 21, LCA, helicopter etc. Officially know as HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum was inagurated in 2001.

11. Cubbon Park Cubbon is a large park spread over 250 acres in the middle of Bangalore. It an essential lung space. One visit there to spend ideal time or refresh themselves. Entry free.

12. International Tech Park (ITPL): The international tech park is the most visible epitome of the IT success of Bangalore. It is an technology park where hundreds of companies operate and thousands people work. One may not get entry there but seeing from outside also worth it. It is located in Whitefield.

13. Jawahar Bal Bhavan: Bal Bhavan is a children’s amusement park. The park offers boating, hobby classes like art, painting etc, children’s movie shows, doll museum, toy train etc. The park remains closed on Mondays and second Tuesdays. 14. Nehru Planetarium: The Nehru Planetarium shows laser shows about the solar system and stars in Hindi, English and Kannada. The planetarium was founded in 1989.

15. Bangalore palace: Bangalore palace located near palace ground is built on the design of Windsor Castle in UK. Rev. Garrett, the first principal of Central High School, Bangalore( Now central college) built this palace. Later, Chamaraja Wodeyar, the then King of Mysore bought it in 1884. Read more ……
