Eco Park, Kolkata | The Biggest Park in India

Eco Park, Kolkata is the biggest park in India with a total area of 480 acres including 104 acres of water body. It was inaugurated by then chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on 29th December 2012. It is also know as prakriti tirtha in Bengali. It is located in New Town, Rajarhat and about 10 km away from the Kolkata International Airport. West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) is the overall government body which manages the park. The park has been divided into three broad parts; 1) ecological zones like wetlands, grasslands, and urban forest, 2) theme gardens and open spaces, 3) and urban recreational spaces. The park is surrounded by the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art on the North, the upcoming Central Business District and International Financial Hub on the east, the Kolkata International Convention Center, HIDCO Bhawan and Rabindra Tirtha on the south and existing human settlement of Jatragachi/Hatiara on the West The Eco Tourism Park is opened on:

Summer Timings (1 March to 31 October)

  • Tuesday to Saturday = 2:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
  • Sunday & Holidays = 12 Noon. to 8:30 P.M.

Winter Timings

  • Tuesday to Saturday = 12 Noon. to 7:30 P.M.
  • Sunday & Holidays = 11 AM. to 7:30 P.M.

The morning walk timings are in between 5.30 AM to 8.30 AM. Monthly entry fees for morning walk is Rs 750 / person Yearly entry fees is Rs 8250 The park remains closed on Monday. Entry charge is Rs 30/-. Park entry and ticket counter closes at 07:30 P.M. (Children of 3 Years and Above Full Ticket is Required) Eco Park has many restaurants, food joints, children’s play area, gardens, butterfly garden, a big island called sabuj sathi, in the middle of the lake, shikara ride in the lake, houseboat restaurant and many more. Eco park kolkata has ample parking with 3 parking lots and costs Rs 50 / 4 wheeler, Rs 20 / two wheeler and Rs 100 / bus.
