Review: Anand Dum Biryani, Hoskote

The day we went to taste mutton curry at Highway hotel, we went to do a recce of Anand Dum Biryani which is also at Hoskote off the highway. We found it is open for business for only three days in a week and that too for limited hours. The speciality is mutton Biryani. So on a Sunday morning along with a friend landed at Anand Dum Biryani to check it out. By the time we reached there it was around 10.30 AM. Mutton Biryani is available in two versions full plate – Rs 180 and half plate – Rs 140. Chicken Biryani and paya is also available. When we went to order, we discovered we were short of cash and our search for an ATM started. We found a City Union Bank ATM near a HP petrol bunk. After withdrawing cash we were back to the restaurant. We ordered for two full plate Biryani.

At the onset the Biryani did not look like typically Biryani we know. This was made of small rice wheres biryani are made of basmati rice which were long in size. This biryani was also not that spicy and best part was the mutton. Typically I do not have mutton as I find it little harder. However, here the mutton was soft and very nicely cooked. Also, the mutton biryani is given in very simplistic way on eco friendly plates with Banana leaf. Raitha is available along with Biryani and anyone can self serve from big container kept there. After having one plate we felt the urge to have some more. So we ordered another full plate and shared it. I have never thought of having biryani for breakfast given its recipe. But the way mutton biryani is made at Anand Dum Biryani makes it possible for breakfast food. After having one and a half plate of biryani, I can say coming to Hoskote from Bangalore is worth it just to have mutton biryani.
